History

Skiff sailing was a popular sport on Sydney Harbour from the 1850's onwards. Classes ranged in size from 6 to 21 feet in length.

In 1891 the Sydney Flying Squadron was established by a group of People including Mark Foy to concentrate on the 18 foot skiff class. The aim was to provide an exhilarating sport for the crew and exciting visuals for spectators.

There is a lot more to be added, hopefully some of the retired skiffies might volunteer to help us fill this section out!
